Routine Handling

Handle With Confidence

Metal cards are made for handling and play, but thoughtful care will help preserve their finish.

Handle cards with clean, dry hands.
Hold cards by their edges when possible to reduce fingerprints.
Keep cards away from abrasive surfaces, loose grit, sand, and metal objects that could mark the finish.
Do not scrape the surface with sharp tools.
Avoid dropping cards onto hard surfaces or against exposed edges.

Fingerprints are normal and can be cleaned safely using the instructions below.

Cleaning

How to Clean Your Cards

Isopropyl alcohol can be used to remove fingerprints, oils, and ordinary surface residue.

1.Place the card on a clean, soft, flat surface.
2.Apply a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to a clean microfiber cloth. Do not pour it directly onto the card.
3.Gently wipe the card's surface without aggressive scrubbing.
4.Use a dry section of the microfiber cloth to remove remaining moisture.
5.Allow the card to dry completely before storing it.

Use & Avoid

Use

A clean microfiber cloth
A small amount of isopropyl alcohol
Light, even wiping
A soft, flat work surface

Avoid

Abrasive pads or paper towels
Steel wool or polishing compounds
Harsh household cleaners
Scraping tools
Soaking or submerging the card
Aggressive rubbing

Isopropyl alcohol is for cleaning surface oils, fingerprints, and residue. It does not repair scratches or physical damage.

Bending & Physical Care

Bend-Resistant, Not Bend-Proof

Forged in Fire cards resist ordinary flexing and require a substantial bend before the deformation becomes permanent. However, they are not indestructible. Deliberately folding, sharply bending, creasing, or twisting a card can permanently change its shape.

Warning

Never bend a card to test its durability. Bend resistance is protection against everyday handling—not an invitation to intentionally stress the metal.

Additional Guidance

Keep cards flat during storage and transportation.
Do not place heavy objects on an unsupported card.
If a card is accidentally flexed but returns to its original shape, place it flat before storing it.
Do not repeatedly flex the same area.

Storage

Store Your Collection Properly

Store cards flat in a clean, dry environment.
Use sleeves, binders, deck boxes, or cases that comfortably accommodate the cards without forcing them.
Make sure storage materials are free from dirt and debris before inserting a card.
Keep cards separated from keys, coins, tools, and other loose metal objects.
Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat, direct sunlight, or high humidity.
Make sure cards are fully dry before placing them in enclosed storage.
